Dedicated by Charles Lindbergh in 1927, the Charles B. Wheeler
Downtown Airport served as Kansas City, Mo.'s first functioning
airport. Located on 695 acres immediately adjacent to the Kansas
City downtown business district, the project features 1,300 square
feet of Holland, Mich.- based Dri-Design's 0.80-aluminum panels in
Sandstone. The airport provides 24-hour, full-service facilities
for general aircraft including self-fueling, 24-hour snow removal
and multiple hangars. Wellner Architects, Kansas City, served as
the architect and Kansas City, Kan.-based Great Plains Roofing
& Sheet Metal installed the Dri-Design panels.
