Construction on
the Pioneer Commerce Center in Truckee, Calif., began in December
2006 and was completed in February 2008. The building is used as 30
percent warehouse space, 50 percent office space and 20 percent
residential.
The project utilized a metal building, roof and walls from Metallic
Building Co., Houston. The 12,018-square-foot (1,116-m2) building
has a 1:12 roof pitch. Metallic's Double-Lok roof panels are a
trapezoidal solution that provides optimal durability and
weathertightness. The panels feature an interlocking standing seam
to support faster and easier installation and a more efficient
erection process. The building also features wood, block and
Metallic's PBR endwall and sidewall panels.
While the office and residential sections of the building are wood
construction, the warehouse is all metal with tasteful finishes.
Mansard construction, wood wall finishes and a front entry canopy
add to the overall look of the building. The building features a
large mezzanine, 50 by 78 by 12 feet (15 by 24 by 4 m) with welded
steel stairs and railings.
McKay and Moran Architects, Sacramento, Calif., was the architect;
Summit Builders, Lakewood, Calif., was the general contractor; and
Striplin Walker Construction Inc., El Dorado Hills, Calif., was the
builder, erector and roofing contractor.
