Located
across the country, the iHouse is built by Clayton Homes,
Maryville, Tenn. Designated as an Energy Star partner in 2003 by
the EPA, Clayton became the first homebuilder to become certified
at every home building facility. CEO Kevin Clayton directed a team
of architects to design a home that incorporated as many green and
energy-efficient products as possible. The resulting iHouse has a
modern design and look, allowing for the efficient use of interior
space, and features energy-efficient green products such as no-VOC
paint, a tankless water heater, high-efficiency heat pump,
programmable thermostat and water saving dual-flush toilets, are
used throughout the homes. For each iHouse, Lancaster, Pa.-based
Fabral supplies its 2 1/2" corrugated metal wall panels and 1 1/2"
SSR for the roof. The use of a metal roof system provided a
nationwide solution for a consistent and functional roofing
material.
