Metal adds to home’s design

Posted 06/1/2010

Driven by the architect’s suggestion to incorporate metal into this home, the Lutnik Residence in Sagaponack, N.Y., is a metal creation in more than one way. The home features Belvedere wall panels (BWR360), custom copings and a curved PC Roof System all from ATAS International Inc., Allentown, Pa. The three metal profiles are 0.032-aluminum, but different colors were selected to highlight the metal—the copings in White, the walls in Award Blue and the roof in Slate Grey.

Belvedere wall panels are structural in nature and can be installed either on solid substrate or open framing, and the Curved PC System is a non-structural standing-seam panel consisting of a snap-on seam with a concealed clip and fastener system. The roof and walls have a Kynar 500 or Hylar 5000 coating.

“The different metal applications turned this home into something to stop and notice,” said Jim Bush, vice president of sales for ATAS. “The architect used colors and shapes to bring prominence to the home, and the ATAS horizontal wall panels and curved metal roof add to that rich geometric dimension.”

The architect of record was McDonough & Conroy, Islandia, N.Y.; the panel distributor was H. Verby Co., Holbrook, N.Y.; the builder was Landmark Development Corp., Holbrook; and the contractor was Line Home Improvement, Hampton Bays, N.Y.
