The Benicia-Martinez California Toll
Plaza was designed to replace an original toll booth plaza built in
1962 that could no longer meet the standards for efficient toll
collection. The $22 million toll plaza features nine staffed
tollbooths and a high-occupancy vehicle lane, and also includes a
24,5000-square-foot two-story administration building and two
canopies, one 16,740 square feet covering the tollbooth area, and
one 7,340 square feet shielding the building entrance. The project
utilized approximately 55,000 square feet of 4-mm Alucobond ACM in
Copper Metallic and 6,000 square feet of 4-mm Alucobond in
Shimmering Teal from 3A Composites USA Inc. to clad the building
walls and canopies and incorporate both the plaza's unique
curvilinear forms and changing color scheme.
