Trade Show Season

Marcy

After an unusually hot summer, fall is officially in the air. And with fall, comes the last of the trade shows for the year. Since trade shows offer manufacturers an opportunity to showcase their newest products and developments, there is still plenty of time to get out and see what's new in the metal construction industry.

First up is METALCON, the metal construction industry's premier event, hosted at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont, Ill., this year. From October 9-11, the metal construction industry will converge on the Chicagoland area, showcasing their products for architects and contractors. With a theme of Imagine, METALCON is the one place where everyone in the metal construction industry gets to shine. Be sure to check out our preview of the upcoming show.

Shortly after METALCON wraps up, the world's largest green building show takes place November 14-16 in San Francisco. The 11th annual Greenbuild International Conference and Expo will feature more than 900,000 square feet of exhibition space at the Moscone Center, and will focus on bringing technology and sustainability together. Also in this issue, Senior Editor Mark Robins takes an in-depth look at the WestTown Campus: Resource Center & Day Shelter in Oklahoma City. The center provides a one-stop shop where the city's homeless community can turn to for shelter and assistance. Read more on how metal plays a role in the campus' architectural design.

Mark Robins also looks at the Eastside Water Facility office in Tucson, Ariz., in this month's Green Scene. He explores how the city has incorporated water harvesting, passive heating and cooling features to attain its green goals and achieve LEED Silver certification for the three-building project.

If you happen to be at Metalcon, stop by booth #817 to say hi.
