Inc. erected Kansas City Southern's pre-engineered metal locomotive repair canopy on an existing structure in Knoche Yard in Kansas City, Mo., while trains continued operating. Kansas City Southern guaranteed a maximum of six hours of discontinuous, allowable daily work time. Crossland Construction assembled the majority of the roof structure on the ground to optimize work time. The crew erected large portions of the building in a short time period. Varco Pruden Buildings supplied its R-Panel walls and standing seam roofing system for the 17,200-square-foot facility, which has a 29-foot, 6-inch eave height. The $240,000 project was completed in 81 days in May 2014, ahead of the projected 102-day schedule.
