Farming lifestyle sown into firehouse design with metal

Houston-based Metallic Building Co.'s building system bolstered the design for the Manchaca Fire Station in Manchaca, Texas, to reflect the local farming and ranching lifestyle. Led by Bailey Elliott Construction, Austin, Texas, the 11,874-square-foot facility represents the ad hoc development of a farm over the years. The administration building captures the aesthetic of a small farmhouse, that later grew into a larger residence, expressed with the station's attached dormitory. Rounding out the farming story, the truck bay represents the addition of a farm equipment barn. A metal building system from Metallic Building was utilized for the truck bay.
