Metal building combines operations

Southern Star Brewing’s main project goal for its mixed-use facility in Conroe, Texas, was to house its complete brewery operation under one roof. This required open spaces to meet the brewing equipment’s height requirements and enough space to provide a large occupant capacity.

Huffco Services Inc. specified Mid-West Steel Building Co.’s metal building system for the design. It used metal beams to create wide and high clear spans. For ease of maintenance, the facility has a hose-down area where water goes into a drainage system.

Ramco Erectors Inc. installed 20,899 square feet of MBCI’s 26-gauge Galvalume Plus PBR roof panels for the project. It also installed 15,492 square feet of MBCI’s 26-gauge PBR wall panels in Light Stone. In all, more than 85 tons of steel were used to complete the project.

Southern Star Brewing’s 27,100-square-foot building contains a brewery, tasting room, offices, and space for cold storage, canning and distribution. The $3 million project was completed in December 2015.
