Metal looks high-tech

Phoenix Architecture LLC and Wentz Design LLC used metal panels to create a modern, high-tech design for London Computer Systems’ headquarters in Cincinnati. The building’s high-tech office environment reflects the software developer’s products. Additionally, the owner wanted the building to have a feeling of longevity and endurance.

The 75,000-square-foot, three-story office building is located on a 15-acre site. It has a large, open floor plan, lighting features, paneled ceilings, interior glass and polished concrete floors. The facility features exterior balconies, large overhangs and ample glazing. In addition to the metal wall panels, the exterior has some stonework.

The project utilized one cladding system for the majority of the building, which streamlined construction, made detailing easier and kept the project on budget. SHApe Architectural, a division of Shaffner Heaney Associates Inc., fabricated Arconic Architectural Products USA’s 4-mm, FR core, Reynobond metal composite material into SHApe Architectural’S RLS 9000 wall panels. Shaffner Heaney Associates installed the panels.

Two colors of wall panels were used: Rust Patina and custom Gray. Rust Patina was selected to create warmth that fits with the surrounding landscape without detracting from its high-tech edge. The $14 million project was completed in October 2016.
