Metal makes rural library design

Project goals for Atlanta-Fulton County Public Library System's Palmetto Branch in Palmetto, Ga., included creating the appearance of a traditional, rural metal roof on an aggregate structure with features and components that utilized slopes and angles.Project goals for Atlanta-Fulton County Public Library System's Palmetto Branch in Palmetto, Ga., included creating the appearance of a traditional, rural metal roof on an aggregate structure with features and components that utilized slopes and angles. Houser Walker Architecture designed a cool roof in a color that blended with the shade and gloss design goals. Additionally, attention was given to thermal expansion to avoid expansion and contracting noise during mornings and evenings.

McElroy Metal supplied its 24-gauge, 16-inch Medallion- Lok standing seam roof system with Kynar coating for the library project. It was completed in October 2015 and is in the process of obtaining LEED Silver certification.
