West Hartford, Conn.-based Ultimate Construction LLC installed Deland, Fla.-based Kingspan Insulated Panels Inc.'s 3-inch KarrierPanel behind masonry wall and rainscreen on Charter Oak Federal Credit Union, Waterford, Conn. An insulation and vapor barrier wall system was installed outside the stud framing. Kingspan's KarrierPanel barrier wall system was used throughout the 65,000-square-foot, four-story brick-andaluminum complex. Charter Oak Federal Credit Union's logo was formed as a glazed orange brick tree embedded in the brick façade. Bridgeton, Mo.-based Universe Corp. supplied its metal composite material 2000R rainscreen system.

Tony Morin, senior estimator at Ultimate Construction, says KarrierPanels were used with the brick ties behind the brick walls. "They were also used with the Karrier rail system behind an aluminum composite rainscreen panel system," he says.

The project was budgeted at $18 million and scheduled for completion in less than two years. The groundbreaking ceremony was held in September 2012. Six months later the foundation was poured and the project was completed in June 2014. Old Lyme, Conn.-based Point One Architects was the architecture firm for the project, which includes corporate offices, branch operations, call center, training rooms, board room, exercise gym and community space.

Brian A. Orenstein, CEO at Charter Oak Federal Credit Union, says the new headquarters, located two hours south of its former location in Massachusetts, reflects the credit union as a strong and vibrant institution. "This building represents a new era of growth for Charter Oak," he says. "And it will serve as an important symbol of our strength and our service to our members for many years to come."
