Metal panels form smooth appearance on apartment building

"The design goal was clean modern lines and the use of custom colors," she says. "We liked the metal for its smooth, luminous aesthetic, as well as a way to avoid the many pitfalls of a brick rainscreen."

Macquesten Development installed Dri-Design's 0.08-inch aluminum wall panels in Dark Gray, Medium Gray, Light Gray, Cloud Gray and Cream for the eight-story, 78,000-square-foot residential facility. Additionally, Dri-Design's perforated panels enclose air conditioning units.

The $27 million project is located in the Bronx and was designed to obtain LEED Silver certification. Mother Arnetta Crawford Apartments includes 84 rental units, five units accessible to people with impaired mobility and two units accessible to people with impaired vision. Additionally, it features two indoor recreation rooms, a laundry room, outdoor play area and 21 parking spaces. The housing facility opened in May 2015.
