Gable Stubbs, AIA, associate at McMillan Pazdan Smith Architecture for the project, says "We wanted to keep the same vocabulary with the other buildings on campus but make it a little different," Stubbs says. "Doing this contributes to the overall campus approach of the project while maintaining individual identity and the brand of each entity."

Roebuck Buildings Co. Inc. installed 17,500 square feet of McElroy Metal's 24-gauge, 7/8-inch Multi-Cor corrugated metal wall panels in Ash Gray and Charcoal PVDF, and 5,400 square feet of 24-gauge Mega-Rib panels with mitered corners in Texas Silver metallic finish. It also installed 3,500 square feet of McElroy Metal's 22-gauge Marquee-Lok flush metal wall panels in Ash Gray PVDF in the interior and Charcoal PVDF on the exterior. The Marquee-Lok flush metal wall panels were installed as interior liner panels and at the entrance. Roebuck Buildings also installed 1,500 square feet of 24-gauge Marquee-Lok metal soffit panels, vented and non-vented, in Charcoal Gray PVDF for the project.

For accents on the walls, Arconic Architectural Products supplied Reynobond metal composite material (MCM) in blue for bands that wrap around the building. Additionally, the project utilized Nucor Building Systems' metal building system and trapezoidal, metal roof. It was completed in June 2016.

Buddy Corn is project manager at Roebuck. "The biggest challenge was designing all the details and the trim for the different profiles," Corn says. "The design featured all sorts of inset windows, storefront entrances, MCM bands and sunshades, and they all required different details."

Pickens County YMCA serves 8,000 members and houses a basketball court, wellness room, community room, multipurpose room, aerobics area, nursery, child watch room, kitchen, steam and sauna room, locker rooms and offices.
