Highlander Accelerator, Omaha, Neb.[11]
Located in an underserved neighborhood in Omaha, Neb., the Accelerator at Highlander is an unconventional community center. Part of a master planned community, the Accelerator is a city in a building, in that it is a place for public events, entrepreneurship, urban aquaponics, coffee, education, community-building, business incubation and soul food.
Casa Campinarana, Manaus, Amazonas, Brazil[12]
Praising its simple, crisp, hipped roof with its flat-seamed, weathered steel texture, judges for the 2019 Metal Architecture Design Awards recognized Casa Campinarana, a private residence in Manaus, Amazonas, Brazil, in the metal roofing category.
C.H. Robinson Midwest Headquarters, Chicago[13]
“It oozes smooth.” This is what 2019 Metal Architecture Design Awards judge Charles Bloszies, FAIA, SE, LEED AP, principal, Office of Charles F. Bloszies FAIA Ltd., San Francisco, says about the C.H. Robinson Midwest Headquarters in Chicago, the smooth metal wall panels award winner. “It undulates in a subtle way. In the class of parametrically modeled transitional shapes this is very controlled and subtle, and I love it.”
Colorado River Indian Tribes’ Fire Safety Substation, Parker, Ariz.[14]
The Colorado River Indian Tribes (CRIT) consists of four distinct tribes: the Mohave, Chemehuevi, Hopi and Navajo. The council needed a facility that not only met all current and 10-year future operational needs, but also the image of success and conveyed pride for community members.
Expensify Headquarters, Portland, Ore.[15]
When software company, Expensify, needed a new office in Portland, Ore., it wanted to ensure the space reflected the culture of the company. It turned to ZGF Architects, Portland, to deliver on that promise.
IBEW Local 134 Headquarters, Chicago[16]
For showcasing how metal panels can be leveraged in a transformative retrofit project, the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local 134 headquarters building in Chicago won the 2019 Metal Architecture Design Award for renovations and retrofits.

Celebration Park, Naples, Fla.[17]
Celebration Park, a fixed food truck park in Naples, Fla., is the brainchild of local restaurateur Rebecca Maddox, owner of the nearby Three60 Market. Designed by local firm, David Corban Architects, Naples, the food truck park consists of a 3,500-square-foot open-air pavilion and a 350-square-foot bathroom/storage area set on a 3/4-acre parcel of land.

Engineering & Computer Science West, University of Texas at Dallas, Richardson, Texas[18]
The Engineering and Computer Science Building at the University of Texas at Dallas fulfilled particular needs for the school and used multiple expressions of metal to provide an open-spaced building that supports the branding of the university and delivers on sustainable design practices.
Bells of Sant Cugat, Vallés, Spain[19]
Inspired by the bells of the Monastery of Sant Cugat del Vallés, the architecture studio of Sergio Sebastián Franco, SEBASTIAN ARQUITECTOS, Zaragoza, Spain, has designed three models of sculptured bells for Sant Cugat del Vallés in Vallés, Spain. Standing almost 6 meters high, each bell produces different visual effects, colors and reflections. Their forms resemble a xylophone, a kaleidoscope and a church’s rosette.

Menil Drawing Institute, Houston[20]
Sharp, angular forms and surfaces that subtly reflect light make Menil Drawing Institute a standout. Judges for the 2019 Metal Architecture Design Awards lauded the design for them, and what they noted was a well-conceived, tranquil building, and recognized it with a Judges Award.

Center Street Parking Garage, Berkeley, Calif.[21]
The Center Street Parking Garage in Berkeley, Calif., has been hailed by Mayor Jesse Arreguin as “probably the greenest parking garage in California” thanks to its environmentally sustainable features. Located in the heart of Berkeley’s Arts District, the new parking garage replaced a 1950s-era garage that was too small and deemed below current-day seismic safety standards.
