A Bold Design Harmony

For the purposes of the McArthur Squash Center at Boar’s Head Sports Club[1] in Charlottesville, Va., Lancaster, Pa.-based Fabral[2]’s Thin Seam with Batten panel system was designed for the sidewall in combination with Silhouette HCF wall panels and Thin Seam standing seam roofing. The wide batten utilized with Thin Seam provides a bold board-and-batten look incorporated with a strong core panel system.

The Thin Seam with Batten panel system is used at the entrance to the building for both its functionality and its aesthetics. This panel system blends harmoniously with the adjacent construction materials and is easily trimmed out at the window and entranceway transitions.

Additionally, while the McArthur Squash Center stands apart with its forward-thinking, sustainable design, it blends well with the traditional construction materials common to the University of Virginia campus. The Thin Seam with Batten panel system utilizes the standard 1 3/4-inch-deep snap seam type Thin Seam panel system with a butterfly clip installed over the Thin Seam standing seam and a 1-7/16-inch by 2-inch batten cover.

This system provides ease of installation for both roofing and wall panel applications. Further, this enclosure system is sustainable as the metal substrate contains recycled content and is wholly recyclable. The Thin Seam panels can be roll-formed on-site if required and specified.

The McArthur Squash Center is operated for the University of Virginia by the Boar’s Head resort, a subsidiary of the University of Virginia Foundation. Home to the Virginia men’s and women’s squash teams, the 33,000-square-foot complex has eight international singles courts, one feature court and two hardball doubles courts.
