ATAS International Inc.[1], Allentown, Pa., supplied 44,276 square feet of its 0.04-inch-thick aluminum Field-Lok standing seam metal roof panels in Dove Grey. The mechanically seamed panels have a 2-inch seam height and 15 1/4-inch panel width, and can meet severe load requirements. The double-locked structural panels have photovoltaic panels installed on them. Alpha Roofing and Sheet Metal[2] of Orlando, Fla., was the installer for the project, which also included 3,939 square feet of ATAS’ tapered standing seam metal roof panels. The tapered panels were used at a rounded eave area, to the east side of the main entrance, between two towers.

“The county commissioner dictated a sloped roof for this building,” says Ken Zuker, senior associate with FleischmanGarcia Architecture. “Because it’s a county building with an expected life span of 50 to 60 years, a metal roof was the obvious choice. Since 340 solar panels were going to be installed on the roof, we chose aluminum for the metal substrate due to its longevity.”

Solar Advantage LLC[3], Odessa, Fla., installed the Cheetah 72M 380- to 400-watt mono passivated emitter and rear contact (PERC) photovoltaic modules from Jinko Solar (U.S.) Inc.[4], San Francisco, with Colorado Springs, Colo.-based S-5!’s[5] non-penetrating U-Clamps.

Designed to LEED Silver standards, project has an electric car charging station, native/drought-resistant landscaping, and patio furniture made from recycled plastic bottles.
