Welcoming employees, customers, industry partners, and local officials, Kingspan Insulated Panels North America[1] (KIPNA) hosted a grand opening celebration for its newly renovated and expanded 29,000-sf North American headquarters in DeLand, Fla.

“Our goal was to create a building that reflects the culture of our people, one defined by quiet confidence,” said KIPNA president Alswinn Kieboom. “It needed to be a distinctly Kingspan building and a comfortable environment in which our team can work, while also making a strong impression on our employees, customers, and stakeholders.”

Conor Daly—driver of the No. 23 Dreyer & Reinbold Racing (DRR) Chevrolet in the 110th Indianapolis 500—was also on hand for the ceremony, as was his car.

Rather than demolish and rebuild, Kingspan elected to retrofit the existing structure, which reduced the project’s embodied carbon by 60%. About 99% of construction waste was diverted from landfill, and insulation waste foam from Kingspan’s manufacturing facility across the street was reused in the concrete floor slabs and site pavers.

The company also donated 3,000 ceiling tiles removed during renovation to Daytona-area businesses damaged by hurricanes.

“As proud members of the Volusia County community, we are committed to being a good neighbor,” Kieboom added.

The building uses more than 21,000 square feet of Kingspan’s own insulated metal wall panels and 30,000 square feet of insulated metal roof panels, along with facade, insulation, skylight, and ductwork solutions from Kingspan and its companies Solatube, Troldtekt, Dri-Design, and Morin.

Visitors also saw the building’s sustainability features in operation, including an all-electric design with no natural gas systems, heat-recovery HVAC, 100% LED lighting, daylighting, 12 EV charging stations, solar PV panels, and rainwater-harvesting tanks that supply toilets and landscaping.

Kingspan says it is pursuing LEED v4 BD+C Gold Certification and International Living Future Institute (ILFI) NetZero Carbon + Energy Certification for the building.

A business unit of Kingspan, Kingspan Insulated Panels North America[1] manufactures and markets three groups of products: insulated metal wall and roof panel systems, insulated architectural panel and facade systems, and controlled environment panels.
