Alcoa Architectural Products Introduces PrismFX Color-Shifting Finishes

prismfxAlcoa Architectural Products[1] announces the introduction of PrismFX color-shifting finishes, the latest additions to its expansive portfolio of architectural coatings for Reynobond Aluminum Composite Materials (ACM) and Reynolux profile materials, flat sheet and coil. PrismFX finishes provide an option for architects who want to enrich their designs with variable color.

 

“PrismFX finishes can give your building a look as dynamic as your design,” said George Rosado, commercial director for Alcoa Architectural Products. “The coating creates subtle color shifts as lighting conditions change throughout the day. A building that appears green, blue or silver in the morning can shift to copper, violet or gold in the afternoon.”

 

PrismFX Finishes Add Dimension

Architects can specify the unique PrismFX finish for a variety of applications, including decorative, attention-grabbing architectural elements. The architectural firm of PGAL LLC[2] of Las Vegas, recently specified a custom Rose Champagne PrismFX finish for accent panels on the new Terminal 3 Parking Garage at McCarran International Airport in Las Vegas, calling attention to important egress, assisting with wayfinding. The unique finish was used to mark the locations of the pedestrian bridges connecting it to the terminal. Shaffner Heaney Associates[3] of South Bend, Ind., fabricated more than 131,000 square feet of Reynobond ACM in 4,200 panels, finished with a combination of Rose Champagne PrismFX and Bright Silver Metallic Colorweld 500XL paint finishes for the façade.
