[1]ATAS International Inc.[2], based in Allentown, Pa., conducted its annual Project of the Year awards competition. Project photos are submitted by architects, contractors, building owners, and ATAS product representatives.
For 2023, Phoenix West in Orange Beach, Ala., received first-place honors for the commercial roofs category. ATAS’ Techo Tile in Mission Red was used to retrofit the existing storm damaged roof. The architect was John M. Senkarik & Associates, based in Pensacola, Fla., and the panels were installed by Roofing Plus Inc., based in Auburn, Ga. The distributor was Commercial Roofing Specialties Inc., based in Doraville, Ga.
Rising 27 stories above sugar-white sands and emerald waters of Orange Beach, Phoenix West offers residents a Gulf-front address many amenities. Built in 2005, the high-rise houses 225 condominiums.
To replace its roof, the architect and building owner chose ATAS’ Techo Tile, a metal roof panel with a deep configuration in the form of an S, or Spanish tile. It is manufactured in aluminum with a 70 percent PVDF paint finish, which withstands coastal applications.
