CENTRIA Architectural Systems announced the launch of BIM objects representing its Formawall Dimension Series wall system. These BIM objects are available to the architectural community through the e-CENTRIA portal located at www.centria.com and can be found in the details section under the Formawall Dimension Series pages.
“Building Information Modeling is the process of creating and utilizing 3-D digital models for design, detailing and drawings for building projects,” said Greg Lusty, foam product manager at CENTRIA. “In 2007, 28 percent of the market was using BIM in one form or another. Today, almost 50 percent of the market uses BIM. Through the use of BIM, architects can benefit by reduced information coordination, improved productivity and by offering superior visualization of a project. Building owners benefit through lower project costs, a faster construction process and better overall construction.” CENTRIA’s Formawall Dimension Series BIM objects create the three-dimensional representations of the insulated metal wall panel system. Revit, the industry’s leading BIM development software program was used to create the objects. The Formawall Dimension Series BIM object allows users the flexibility to easily change module sizes, panel lengths and reveals. The objects can also be customized with CENTRIA standard and custom colors, as well as its Duracast textured finish. Openings, such as windows, can be easily inserted into the Formawall Dimension Series BIM object, and other building materials such as brick, concrete and curtainwall can also be used in correlation with the product. Additionally, material take offs can be easily created through the use of the BIM object. The model automatically counts the sizes and quantities of the panels used in the project and exports the information to a spreadsheet.
