Two well-established firms with shared roots in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, and a history of collaboration are joining forces. DIALOG and Rockliff Pierzchajlo Kroman (RPK) Architects[1] have announced the merger of their design practices, consolidating operations at DIALOG’s Edmonton studio. The move builds on each firm’s legacy of delivering community-responsive architecture and broadens their collective capacity across the western and northwestern areas of Canada.
Jan Kroman, previously principal at RPK Architects, joins DIALOG as a partner. With a professional background spanning the Netherlands, Japan, and several Canadian cities, Kroman brings both design fluency and a pragmatic, multidisciplinary approach. He has contributed to the profession in both practice and academia and maintains a deep interest in the convergence of architecture, urbanism, and public life.
Other RPK team members transitioning to DIALOG include construction contracts manager Peter Wong; architect Karen Muir; technologist Dan Letourneau; and engineer Jeffrey Nelson—all of whom bring long-standing technical expertise to the expanded team. Former principal Jonathan Rockliff will serve as a consultant partner. Jan Pierzchajlo, who retired from RPK in 2022, remains involved as an advisor on select projects.
RPK Architects has served communities across western and northern Canada for more than five decades, with a focus on healthcare, housing, and institutional work. Their portfolio reflects a consistent commitment to context-sensitive and community-centered design. DIALOG, with studios throughout Canada and the United States, is recognized for its interdisciplinary approach to projects that span architecture, engineering, planning, and sustainability.
The two firms are currently collaborating on the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre redevelopment, a $1.45 billion healthcare infrastructure project for Alberta Infrastructure. Once completed in 2031, the upgraded facility will include expanded bed capacity, six new operating rooms, a new central power plant, and upgraded critical infrastructure to support regional health delivery.
