Miami-based Newco Structures Inc. was contracted by the U.S. Army in September 2009 to construct an Emergency Operation Center and Disaster Relief Warehouse in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. The 47- by 84-foot (14- by 26-m) EOC and the 40- by 120-foot (12- by 37-m) DRW structures manufactured by American Buildings Co., Eufaula, Ala., were 100 percent erected as of January 12, the day of the 7.0 earthquake. The foundations, slabs and structures suffered no damage.
