RoofClamp meets snow retention, installation challenges

Years ago, metal roofing was industrial looking with exposed fasteners and lots of corrugations. With so many designs and colors to choose from, architectural standing-seam roofs have become today’s standard. The decorative appeal makes it ideal for the residential market and architectural buildings alike. While this type of roofing has the greatest aesthetic appeal, there are some challenges that it brings. In winter climate zones, snow retention is usually the biggest issue while the other is how to install roofing components such as service walks, satellite dishes, HVAC equipment, pipes/conduit, signage and photovoltaic solar modules. The RoofClamp is simply the best answer. The RoofClamp is designed by Action Manufacturing LLC and marketed exclusively by SnoBlox-Snojax, Mechanicsburg, Pa. RoofClamp is strong, easy to install and cost effective. The RoofClamp RC works on most snap lock and seamed together roofs while the RoofClamp RCT works on bulb shaped and T-shaped panels. The clamps are made up of durable 6061-T6 aluminum and they incorporate three cupped nose set screws that clamp onto the standing-seam metal roof. Instead of using one or two polished round point screws that could slip off the panel, the aluminum RoofClamp utilizes 3 rounded 1 1/4 by 3/8-inch stainless-steel cupped nose set screws that do not pierce the panel and will not void the panel manufacturer’s warranty. This rounded cupped screw is the same field proven screw that has been used on the SnoBar system for more than 15 years without ever having a callback. There is a beefy 3/8-inch screw for attaching roofing accessories on the top of the clamp. In preliminary list off tests, the clamp held 2,400 pounds with 1,600 allowable pounds. RoofClamp clamps are rated for 600 allowable pounds using a safety factor of three. For optimum strength and ease of installation, the clamp is one piece instead of two. It is fast and easy to install, accommodates more panels and will last the life of the roof. This product is available online at www.RoofClamp.com, or by calling (800) SNOJAX-1.
