Columbia, Md.-based Vectorworks Inc.[1] announced it awarded scholarships to 30 students for 20 projects in its 2019 Vectorworks Design Scholarship program. Kristopher Clemson won the 2019 Richard Diehl Award, the grand prize of the program. Scholarships were awarded to individual and group submissions for projects in the architecture, entertainment, landscape and interior design industries.

The winning project, The Octagon, submitted by Clemson, a graduate of Full Sail University in Winter Park, Fla., and founder of Capitola, Calif.-based Bifröst Lighting LLC[2], focuses on lighting design, Vectorworks’ Vision and MA 3-D renderings. Clemson used Vision alongside the company’s Spotlight to help with pre-visualization and implementing MA lighting on a PC.

“It is an incredible honor to receive this scholarship and to be the first entertainment winner of the Richard Diehl Award,” Clemson said. “As my first time applying to the Vectorworks Design Scholarship, I wasn’t sure what to expect. I struggled with the design process, but the usability, flexibility and overall presentation was achievable with Vectorworks software. I advise anyone looking to apply next year to suffer for your art and to ensure you have a well-balanced life of creativity surrounding yourself with creative mentors and friends.”

Regional scholarship winners, selected by an international panel of design, academic and media professionals, were evaluated based on design integrity, originality, and the effective use of computer technology and communication of design vision.

In addition to the monetary awards, winners received Vectorworks educational software licenses for their schools and training for faculty and students. To view the winning designs and runner-up projects, visit www.vectorworks.net/scholarship/us_EN/winners[3].
