ACCELERATED Building Technologies LLC, Moon Township, Pa., hosted Pennsylvania Gov. Edward Rendell and other federal, state and local government officials at its headquarters in April to update them on advances in sustainable building. ABT briefed the delegation about the many successful installations of its accel-E Steel Thermal Efficient Panels wall system, a construction technique that fuses cold-formed steel framing members and expandable polystyrene insulation into lightweight composite panels. By combining framing, insulation and sheathing into a single system, the S.T.E.P.wall system design provides superior energy efficiency while greatly reducing air infiltration. As a follow-up to the meeting, Rendell arranged for ABT executives to visit the state capitol in Harrisburg to meet with representatives from the Pennsylvania Builders Association, Pennsylvania Department of Transportation, Department of Environmental Protection, and Department of Community and Economic Development. “We’re very pleased that we had this opportunity to present this technology to our state and local officials,” said ABT President Andy Claypole. “We believe the benefi ts this wall system can offer our region—and the country—in terms of employment, greater efficiency in construction and the environment could be significant.”
