The American Institute of Architects (AIA) is partnering with Broadcastr on a project that will raise public awareness of architectural accomplishments, elevate appreciation of the profession, and provide reasoning behind design.

Broadcastr is a new application for iPhone and Android that links media to places. With thousands of stories and tours curated by experts and users, Broadcastr transforms any iPhone or Android device into a multimedia guide to the world. Users of the app can seamlessly discover great content relevant to where they are, as stories about their surroundings stream automatically to their phones.

AIA is curating in-depth architectural interviews that users can discover as they walk, drive, or bike through a particular city. AIA is piloting the partnership in New York City, Los Angeles, and Washington, D.C.

Participants of the Broadcastr project are asked to share insight on a building they designed or a building they are passionate about. This exciting national initiative between AIA and Broadcastr will effectively create a voice for buildings, as well as the profession of architecture by enabling the general public to hear directly from the architects. The application provides an intimate, immersive experience by unlocking enriching multimedia based on location.

Audio interviews will be included in tours within the app. The AIA has a Broadcastr page on its website containing general information and audio interviews from the tours, http://www.aia.org/broadcastr[1]. High resolution photographs of all selected structures will be posted along with audio files.
