The American Institute of Architects[1] (AIA) is proud to announce that Davon Gray, managing director of Advocacy & Engagement Programs at AIA will also be serving as a commissioner on the Virginia Housing Development Authority (VHDA). Governor Glenn Youngkin recently announced the appointment. Gray will join seven other commissioners in working toward improving Virginians’ access to affordable housing.
“I am so pleased to be appointed as Commissioner on VHDA,” said Gray. “This is an important issue for Virginians, and I look forward to creating opportunities for more affordable housing across our great state.”
The VHDA was created by the General Assembly in 1972 with a mission “to finance affordable housing opportunities for low- and moderate-income Virginians through partnerships with local governments, non-profit organizations, lenders, developers, builders, real estate professionals and others; and through programs targeted at needs such as homebuyer education classes or financing for multifamily rental units.
Gray holds a master’s degree in public administration from DeVry University and a bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of Southern Mississippi. He has more than two decades of experience working in government advocacy.
