METALCON is offering a course in metal composite material (MCM) during the 2024 show in Atlanta. Architects and designers are invited to sign up for a 90-minute walking tour of the city’s Centennial Park District which will visit several high-profile projects showcasing some uses of MCM.
MillerClapperton, based Austell, Ga., was fabricator for the projects on the tour. Zeke Miller, CEO at MillerClapperton, says, “It’s a unique opportunity to see this much square footage of MCM projects with a great variety of applications in such a short walk.”
The tour is scheduled for 2:30 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 30, starting from the Georgia World Congress Center, Marietta St. entrance, built with MCM panels. Other stops include the College Football Hall of Fame, Omni Hotel, Georgia Aquarium, Civil Rights Museum, World of Coca-Cola, Wyndham Margaritaville Hotel, and Signia Hotel by Hilton. Upon returning to the Georgia World Congress Center, tour-goers are invited to a metal mash-up welcome party in an exhibit hall.
“I hope to offer a unique perspective about the fabrication and installation of MCM panels installed on these projects,” Miller says. “I can share the dos and don’ts as well as the best practices in the specification of MCM panels.”
