Coatings Restoration—Components and Complexities is a technical presentation from Republic Powdered Metals Inc., Medina, Ohio, that is part of the Continuing Education System of the American Institute of Architects, Washington, D.C. “Today the architectural community is more involved in roof restoration projects,” explained Chuck Ferris, Republic Powdered Metals’ Southern regional sales manager. “As they’re becoming more involved in restoration—particularly with metal roof systems—we can provide historic and background information they’ll need to determine the best restoration system for their particular applications.” The Republic Powdered Metals presentation offers an overview of roof restoration, including the general categories of coatings, such as aluminum, acrylics and urethanes. Each category’s strengths and weaknesses are explored, as well as how the coatings adapt to particular roof environments and substrates.
