The International WELL Building Institute[1] (IWBI) announces the first annual WELL Building Symposium[2] to take place on October 20, 2014 at the Roosevelt Hotel in New Orleans. Convening professionals in design, real estate and construction who want to lead the market and build a movement around wellness in real estate, the 2014 WELL Building Symposium will feature a full-day of programming, including keynote presentations, breakout sessions and other immersive workshops.

In the presence of some of the world’s foremost visionaries within the wellness community, the first-ever WELL Building Symposium will culminate with the public release of v1.0 of the WELL Building Standard[3]. Currently in pilot phase, the WELL Building Standard is an evidence-based standard created through six years of research and development working with researchers and physicians from leading medical institutions and expert practitioners from the building industry. Administered by IWBI, the WELL Building Standard is currently undergoing a thorough and transparent Peer Review process. The aggregated comments from the Peer Review will be published alongside WELL v1.0 and will be available online on October 20, 2014 to coincide with the launch.

Featured speakers at the 2014 WELL Building Symposium will include IWBI and Delos[4] Founder Paul Scialla, US Green Building Council[5] Founder & CEO Rick Fedrizzi and International Living Future Institute[6] CEO Jason McLennan, among other thought leaders in the wellness, sustainability, and green building movements.
