[1]London-based firm Studio Tim Fu, has revealed the first fully AI-driven architectural project. Located in northwestern Slovenia on the shores of the glacial lake, Lake Bled Estate comprises seven exclusive-use villas, combining human creativity with cutting-edge artificial intelligence (AI) to shape an innovative hospitality community, marking the beginning of a bold new era in design.
Spanning an expansive 22,000 m2 (236,806 sf) site, the project comprises six new ultra-luxury villas alongside the historic Vila Epos, a protected cultural monument of the highest national significance. Designed by renowned Slovenian architect Jože Plečnik in 1909, it serves as both inspiration and a data reference for the design concept.
Leading this transformation is Tim Fu, a designer who, after emerging from Zaha Hadid Architects, founded Studio Tim Fu with a commitment to pushing the boundaries of AI innovation in practice.
“We’re at a crossroads, a moment of profound change,” says FU. “AI is igniting a revolution in design. By tapping into the creative potential of machine intelligence, we can bring this groundbreaking development to life with unmatched speed and precision.”
The design team has crafted a master plan integrating biophilic design with local vernacular traditions. Leveraging AI in the early design phase, the firm analyzed traditional Slovenian typologies’ context, scale, style, and materiality. This process revealed recurring elements like metal window components, a metal railing around the second floor terrace of each residence, and the timber rizalit (Slovene)—vertical partial enclosures extending from the main facade.
The project offers two-, three-, and four-bedroom villas carefully oriented towards the center of the master plan, maximizing privacy while nurturing a sense of community. At the heart of the site, the landscape concept for the communal park features thoughtfully curated greenery and pathways, encouraging residents to connect with each other and the surrounding natural landscape.
