Arkema’s Kynar Aquatec CRX latex is an aqueous 2K system a water-borne polymer dispersion for producing weatherable, water-borne, air-dry paints and coatings based on Kynar PVDF resins with low levels of volatile organic compounds. While many coating properties, including weathering resistance, are obtained from the Kynar resin, other enhancements including early hardness, solvent resistance and adhesion are obtained by modifications to the acrylic component of Kynar Aquatec CRX latex. The coating is designed for high-performance original equipment manufacturer applications where weather resistance, scratch resistance and resistance to organic solvents are required.

Becker Specialty

Becker Specialty’s BeckryTex is a textured paint system for exterior parts including roofing, wall panels, sidewalls, rollformed and stamped products. BeckryTex has performance attributes comparable to silicone modified polyesters and is warranted for 40 years adhesion and 25 years for chalk and fade. PolyTex, for interior and exterior parts including rollformed products and stamped products, can be warranted up to 10 years.

Dura Coat Products

Dura Coat Products’ Durapon 70 is a PVDF coating used with Dura Coat’s thick film primer in coastal and heavy industrial environments. Combined with Edge Seal, a clear coating applied at the job site to seal the cut edges of metal panels, the continuity of the finish is maintained. Edge Seal can also be used periodically as part of routine maintenance to resist corrosion.

PPG Industries

PPG Industries’ Duranar graffiti-resistant (GR) and Coraflon GR coatings feature a clear barrier over the pigmented color layer of the coating. If the coating is spray-painted or otherwise marred, it can be cleaned by applying DuraPrep 400 graffiti remover. After the solution dwells on the stain for 10 to 60 seconds, it can be wiped with a clean cloth or scrubbed with a nylon brush. Most stains can be removed in 10 minutes or less. Duranar GR coatings are available in a variety of low and medium glosses. Coraflon GR coatings are for high-gloss applications.

Valspar

Valspar’s Kameleon coating is a multicolored system that uses mica flakes to create a consistent, iridescent gradient look. Kameloen coating is applied in a three-coat system: a primer, basecoat and color coat. Unlike metal flakes used in metallic paints, mica flakes do not contain an electrostatic charge that can cause flakes to follow the back-and-forth movements of application equipment, resulting in an uneven dispersion of color. Kameleon Colors offer the same advanced protection of Valspar’s 70-percent PVDF Fluropon product family in pearlescent colors that appear to shift in color when viewed from different angles or sunlight.
