To replace an aged slate roof on Medalist Golf Club’s main clubhouse in Hobe Sound, Fla., Knopf and Associates Inc. specified an aluminum standing seam roofing system.

On the 2805.7m2 (30,200 sf) club house, Southern Coast Enterprises Inc. installed Drexel Metals’, a Carlisle Construction Materials LLC brand, DMC 175S 1.02-mm (0.04-in.) thick aluminum standing seam roofing system in Inkwell, a low-gloss, charcoal gray color.

Metal roofing met durability requirements for the project’s coastal environment. Medalist Golf Club is less than a mile and a half away from the Atlantic Ocean. Given the golf club’s close proximity to the ocean, it was important that the DMC 175S system has a Class 90 UL 580, Wind Uplift rating and meets UL 1897, Extended Phase Wind Uplift requirements. It is also certified to ASTM E1646, Water Infiltration and TAS 100, Wind Driven Rain specifications.
