Design objectives for the Beth Israel Funeral Chapel included re-introducing the people of Houston to the time of day, the seasons of the year and the weather outside. An open structure, it features passive cooling and structural devices to limit noise and define space. The chapel features 6,000 square feet of Curved Tee-Panel standing-seam metal roofing from Berridge Manufacturing Co., along with 4,000 square feet of perforated aluminum acoustical ceiling panels from Epic Metals Corp. Additionally, Berger Iron Works supplied 1/8-inch-thick, curved, perforated aluminum screen panels and complementary sliding gates used on the interior.
