Canopies topped with curved panels from Floline Architectural Systems LLC, Plainfield, Ill., provided the Holiday Inn Express hotel in Wauwatosa, Wis., with a new, updated look. The canopies utilized Floline’s 900 Series Panels, which were formed from 22-gauge steel with a Kynar Silver Visulure II finish and were crimp-curved to a 37- foot 1 1/2-inch (11-m 38-mm) radius and 25-foot 1 1/2-inch (8-m 38-mm) radius. Situational design complexities from the leading and trailing edge of the upper and lower canopy, which is designed as an ellipse, required constant interaction between the installer and the Floline design team.
Jarratt Architecture, South Lyon, Mich., was the project architect; Butler Street Iron Foundry, Chicago, was the metal panel installer; and Weststar Commercial, Chicago, was the general contractor.
