Metropolitan Business Academy, New Haven, Conn.

Metropolitan Business Academy[1], New Haven, Conn., was clad with 406 custom-tapered and 620 rectilinear panels from RHEINZINK America Inc., Woburn, Mass. The fabricator, Total Wall, Branford, Conn., installed 27,780 square feet of RHEINZINK’s 22-gauge, 0.8-mm prePATINA Blue-Grey Flat-Lock Tiles on the 89,000-square-foot facility.

New Haven Public School District students participated in a Kids Build Program during the construction phase. Sixth graders visited the architect’s office and the project site, and learned about designing and constructing sustainable buildings.

Metropolitan Business Academy was built to accommodate 400 students in grades 9-12 and was built in accordance with New Haven’s High Performance Schools Design Requirements, which requires projects to be designed with attention to energy efficiency and sustainability.

S/L/A/M Collaborative, Glastonbury, Conn., was the architect, and Fusco Corp., New Haven, was the general contractor.
