Cost-efficient construction

Completed in June 2007, the 125,000-squarefoot (11,613-m2) Technical Consumer Products warehouse in Aurora, Ohio, utilizes a 386- by 325-foot
(118- by 99-m) building from Oklahoma City-based Star Building Systems’ StarShield Roof System. Almond StarMark and masonry were utilized for the walls, while Star’s Long Bay was the building’s structural system.

The warehouse contains a 52,000-square foot (4,831-m2) conventionally constructed two story office within the building envelope. The project was designed with a custom-engineered metal building for cost efficiency and clear span capabilities. In addition to a fast-track time schedule, a 45-foot (14-m-) tall building peak made erecting the building a challenge.
Ted Manfrass, Ravenna, Ohio, was the architect; Curtis Layer Design/Build Inc., Aurora, was the builder; and Nu-Way Construction, Wooster, Ohio, was the steel erector.
