Creating Durability

In April, a new
$3.7 million Penske Truck Leasing opened in Corpus Christi, Texas. The state-of-the-art 12,000-square-foot (1,115-m2) facility offers commercial and consumer truck rental services, full-service truck leasing and contract maintenance.

The pre-engineered metal building uses a hybrid structure fabricated by Metallic Building Co., Houston, and features three service bays, a truck washing bay and a two-lane fuel island. Situated on 7 acres (2.8 hectares) of land, the main building measures 90 feet by 104 feet by 22 feet (27 m by 32 m by 7 m) with a roof slope of 2:12. A Double-Lok standing-seam roof was installed for its ease of installation, weathertightness and durability.

Special features incorporated into the structural building included a bar joist, use of a colored split face block and architectural metal panels on all outside walls. Penske Truck Leasing integrated new design elements and special composite aluminum signage and fascia panels at front endwalls.

The project team included builder, Dickinson Builder Inc., Corpus Christi; general contractor, Barcom Commercial Inc., Corpus Christi; erector and roofing contractor, Bloch Construction, Corpus Christi; and designer, Penske Truck Leasing Co. L.P., Reading, Penn.
