Hangar highlights aviation history

Snodgrass Freeman Associates designed Ace Aviation Inc.’s maintenance hangar at Renton Municipal Airport in Renton, Wash., to look like Boeing Plant 1 in Seattle, a red barn-style production facility with white windows. The facility features a Boeing 737 nose inside a three-story entryway. The cockpit can be accessed through the wall. Second- and third-floor mezzanines have space for parts storage, a fabrication shop, avionics shop and future tenant.

CHG Building Systems Inc. erected Varco Pruden Buildings’ pre-engineered metal building system and installed 24-gauge standing seam metal roof panels in Cool Cotton White and 24-gauge Panel Rib metal wall panels in Cool Bright Red. Additionally, CHG Building Systems installed AEP Span’s 24-gauge AEP Span Mini V-Beam metal wall panels in Cool Matte Black. The pre-engineered metal building system was specified for its clear-span framing and the Kynar-coated metal wall panels were selected for durable finish and aesthetics. The $4.2 million, 32,000-square-foot project was completed in June 2015.
