The heliport elevator at the Children’s Hospital in Oakland, Calif., is a vital part of the hospital because it transports patients from the helicopter to the hospital or vice versa. The project utilized approximately 8,300 square feet (771 m2) of 0.040-aluminium UNA-CORE Series 10 Honeycomb panels by Firestone Metal Products Inc., Anoka, Minn. The panels have a Bone White Hylar 5000/ Kynar 500 finish by Valspar, Minneapolis.
Gordon Chong, San Francisco, was the architect; LEM Construction, Hayward, Calif., was the general contractor; and Vogel Construction, San Carlos, Calif., was the installer.
