Located in
Concord, Ohio, University Hospital is nestled in the wooded hills just east of Cleveland. Its high-tech, modern appearance retains a very friendly look, and its rounded entrance is reminiscent of welcoming, protective arms. The architect was looking for a lower cost alternative to the stainless tile entrance used at the hospital’s branch in Twinsburg, Ohio. Elkhorn, Wis.-based Millennium Tiles LLC, suggested its new ZALMAG wall panels. ZALMAG is a zinc-aluminum-magnesium coating over steel that weathers to a soft gray over time. Millennium Tiles supplied approximately 6,000 square feet (557m2) of ZALMAG wall panels for the project, allowing the architect to mate brick, metal and glass into a harmonious presentation. Moody Nolan Architecture, Columbus, Ohio, was the architect, and Advanced Roofing Systems, Cleveland, installed the panels.
