The Keith residence in Elizabethtown, Ky., features 110 squares of Louisville, Ky.-based Metal Sales Manufacturing Corp.’s 24-gauge, 16-inchwide Vertical Seam panels with a Kynar 500 PVDF finish in Dark Bronze. The exterior of the home is taupe-colored stone with dark bronze accents around the windows and glass entry. The color of the panels compliment the exterior of the home and match the existing accents around the windows and front door. The Neo-Mediterranean style home has the clean lines of Frank Lloyd Wright with Spanish influences. Clean lines and a bright red door stand out among the surrounding trees and vegetation.
“We chose a metal roof because of its longevity and low maintenance,” says Roy Keith, homeowner. “We are very pleased with the outcome. In addition to the roof’s durability, its look is exactly what we were hoping for.”
The Keiths, frustrated with the short life span of asphalt shingles, were looking for a more sustainable and sensible roofing option. The original roof was constructed with traditional asphalt shingles, which had already been replaced once. Just six years after the first replacement, another was required. This led the owners to choose long-lasting standing seam metal roof panels.
“This residential reroof project went very well thanks to Metal Sales’ assistance,” says Mark Nett, CEO/owner of Nett Construction LLC, Elizabethtown, who served as installer and specifier for the project. “You always encounter unexpected challenges on a project, and whenever we did with the Elizabethtown home, we called on our local Metal Sales representative. They offered us advice, provided their expertise and worked through challenges with us every step of the way.”
