Layered panels keep southern school cool

Metal panels were layered to shield teachers and students from intense sunshine at the International Studies Preparatory Academy[1], Coral Gables, Fla. Alsip, Ill.-based Doralco Architectural Systems’ perforated aluminum sunshade panels with aluminum tube frame were installed on the exterior of the school, and some areas were layered with custom-cut plate panels., RJ Heisenbottle Architects, Coral Gables, was the architect, and Pirtle Construction Co., Davie, Fla., was the general contractor.
