The newest kindergarten through fifth grade facility in the Palmyra Area School District in Palmyra, Pa., Lingle Avenue Elementary School includes the district’s first kindergarten center and two large classroom pods (groups of eight classrooms) with large group-instruction areas. The rest of the building hosts multipurpose rooms, a gymnasium, library, nurses’ suite and administration offices.

The elementary school is protected from the elements by multiple roofing products from Indianapolis-based Firestone Building Products Co. The flat roof section of the school features 22,000 square feet of Firestone Building Products’ fully adhered, 90-mil RubberGard EPDM installed over Atlanta-based Georgia Pacific Building Products’ DensDeck Prime and Firestone’s ISO 95+ GL polyiso insulation. Firestone’s AnchorGard was installed at the perimeter of the EPDM-roofed areas. A 30-year Platinum warranty of the EPDM provides security should the roof face any damage.

The 105,000-square-foot structure also includes approximately 85,000 square feet of Firestone’s 22-gauge UC-3 Double-Lock Standing Seam roofing system installed over ISO 95+ GL polyiso insulation, Firestone Hail- Gard and Firestone CLAD-GARD SA, which provided an ideal moisture barrier between the insulation and the adjacent metal roofing panels. The school also features 9,500 square feet of Firestone’s 22-gauge UC-500 Lap Seam Wall Panels. With a 12-person roofing crew, the entire school building’s roof systems were installed in a little over four months’ time. The elementary school is now pursuing LEED certification.
