McCutcheon Reining Horses Inc. in Aubrey, Texas, features four pre-engineered steel buildings by Mid-West Steel Co., Houston. The riding arena is 300 feet by 150 feet by 18 feet (91 m by 46 m by 6 m); the shed is 150 feet by 46 feet by 18 feet (46 m by 14 m by 6 m); the enclosed barn is 175 feet by 60 feet by 14 feet (53 m by 18 m by 4 m); and a secondary barn is 171 feet by 74 feet by 13 feet (52 m by 23 m by 4 m).
Completed in August 2007, the $3.6 million project was a total of 75,054 square feet (6,973 m2). The roof panels have a 3:12 pitch and include Galvalume PBR, while endwall and sidewall panels utilize Light Stone PBR. The facility includes a dramatic porte caché entry with rock and wood trusses with an additional 4,400 square feet (409 m2) for offi ces and social viewing space that overlooks the covered riding arena through 7- by 7-foot (2- by 2-m) picture windows.
All the interior walls were covered in Light Stone PBR to disguise the steel posts and beams. The facility also included a full service rehabilitation/exercise pool used for injured horses and equine health maintenance. Redish Construction LLC, Whitesboro, Texas, was the general contractor on the project.
