James B. Tatum Hall was constructed for Jane, Mo.-based Crowder College McDonald County’s college of nursing and general education courses. Houston-based Metallic Building Co. supplied its Double-Loc panels with Signature 300 finish and 12-inch embossed Artisan soffit panels for the building, which has a 1:12 roof slope. There is a partial mezzanine with a high side eave extension on building A. Other features include concrete lap siding and decorative wood laminated beams.
As a result of the building’s modern design, it was a challenge getting approvals and inspections because Farrell Construction Inc., Neosho, Mo., the builder, erector and roofing contractor, had to educate inspectors on the newest look of metal building design. Farrell Construction was able to push through and complete the construction process for the 26,514-square-foot project in five months due to its relationship with the city. Nabholz Construction Services, Springfield, Mo., was the general contractor.
