Gilmartin Elementary School in Waterbury, Conn.

Zinc tiles contributed to the distinct design of Gilmartin Elementary School in Waterbury, Conn. RHEINZINK America Inc., Woburn, Mass., supplied 2,725 square feet of its 22-gauge, 0.8- mm prePATINA, Blue-Grey Flat-Lock Tile that were installed on the building, which was designed by S/L/A/M Collaborative, Glastonbury, Conn. The panels were distributed by MetalTech-USA, Peachtree City, Ga., and installed by H. Carr & Sons Inc., Providence, R.I.

The 76,000-square-foot pre-kindergarten through eighth grade school is designed to provide continuity in child development by reducing the number of transitions between kindergarten and high school. Public spaces are oriented toward the neighborhood and classrooms for the 550 students occupy a wing with views of nearby rolling hills and valleys.
