To draw the attention of passersby on Interstate 35W to a self storage facility in an industrial park, Robert W. Kelly Architect Inc. designed Public Storage in Fort Worth, Texas, with a combination of metal panels, masonry, and fenestration. Metal panels blend with brick cladding on the first floor, and windows placed throughout the four-story building.

Bob Kelly, of Robert W. Kelly Architect, says, “Metal wall panels are iconic for storage facilities because they are durable. This storage facility owner wanted something that would make a statement for its highly visible location, and metal was the right choice for that.”

Baker Drywall Fort Worth Ltd. installed 2,526 m2 (27,200 sf)
of Dri-Design’s 2.03-mm thick (0.08-in. thick) aluminum A80 EN-V wall panels in Pewter and Silver.

“We were looking for a no-frills metal product, and we found that. This choice provides durability, eliminates maintenance needs, and is more cost effective than other options,” Kelly says.
