The 80,000-square-foot (7,432-m2) Half Moone Cruise and Celebration Center in Norfolk, Va., is a state-of-the-art arrival and departure terminal for cruise passengers. Located in the harbor between Town Point Park and Nauticus, the cruise terminal boasts more than 33,000 square feet (3,066 m2) of meeting and event space, as well as an expansive 13,000-square-foot (1,208-m2) terrace overlooking the Elizabeth River, home to one of the nation’s largest privately owned ocean liner collections.
Moon Township, Pa.-based CENTRIA supplied 3,004 square feet (279 m2) of 22/26-gauge Formawall Dimension Series Curved Panel Assembly in Copper Metallic with a smooth Sundance AM coating and 19,089 square feet (1,773 m2) of 22-gauge StyleRib in Slate Blue with a smooth Duragard Plus coating.
CENTRIA’s Formawall Dimension Series panels were chosen for their ability to be easily curved, integrating into the glass walls to provide views of the Norfolk waterfront. The StyleRib exposed fastener panels were chosen for their versatility and ability to be insulated to meet many levels of thermal properties. The Slate Blue panels reflect the color of the surrounding water, creating a sleek aquatic look.
BEA International Inc., Coral Gables, Fla., was the architect; Excell Erection Inc., Gloucester, Va., was the dealer and installer; S.B. Ballard Construction Co., Virginia Beach, Va., was the contractor; and Norfolk Department of Public Works, owns the building.
